Electric City Creative Makerspace
The Electric City Creative Makerspace (ECC) is a place for people to explore new creative tools and technologies, and work in a collaborative environment on personal projects. It is located on the second floor of the Anderson Main Library.
Who can use it?
The Electric City Creative Makerspace is open to all library visitors ages 12 and up. Creators ages 12-14 may use the space with an accompanying adult. For safety, creators under the age of 18 need a guardian-signed waiver to use certain equipment.
When is the ECC open?
Tuesday – Thursday: 1 PM – 7:30 PM
Saturday: 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Use the equipment and materials for self-guided exploration. Staff will be available to answer questions but cannot guarantee one-on-one training.
What can I do in the ECC?
Explore a new hobby. Want to try a new craft or hobby before making an investment? Explore Cricut tools, sewing machines, heat presses, yarn crafts, paint, and a variety of other art and craft materials.
Support your small business. Print vinyl, posters and banners, and other specialized jobs, laminate, or use Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and the rest of the Creative Cloud for your home or small business. Please note: the ECC is not set up or designed for mass production of creative wares.
Attend a class or event. Join a monthly event like Handcrafts, Scrapbooking, Art Journaling, or Zine creation, or register for special classes held each month.
Explore the Zine Library. Read zines by local artists and authors or see about adding your zine to the library.
How much does it cost?
The Electric City Creative Makerspace is mostly free to use, but has some costs based on specific materials and equipment.
Creators are welcome to bring in their own materials to use on equipment like the Cricut, Silhouette, sewing machine, and will only incur cost when use exceeds an hour or their materials have higher wear on the equipment (i.e. cutting chipboard).
Call 260-4500 ext. 162 or email eccstaff@andersonlibrary.org to inquire about specific material or equipment availability.
