Calling all Writers and Comic Artists!
What stories can you tell within a Jurassic setting? We want your epic original stories and creative comics to be featured in our annual anthology magazine Literarily Overdue!
Get your pens and paper ready and hit us with your best short story or comic for your chance to be one of the eight stories published.
Entries will be judged on creativity, style, originality, and artistic quality.

Contest Details
The Summer Reading theme is “The Jurassic Edition,” so entries should represent what that theme means to the artist/writer.
The Anthology Magazine Contest is open to anyone 12 & Up with an Anderson County Library Card. Writer/Artist duos are accepted but each must submit separate entry forms with their submission.
Short Story
Short Story Format:
- Must be between 1500-2000 words (title page not necessary)
- 12 pt. Times New Roman or Arial Font
- Double-spaced lines and half-inch indents for paragraphs
- All margins set to 1 inch
- Insert a header in the top right of each page with your last name, story title, and page number
Comic
Comic Format:
- Minimum 3 pages, Max 4 pages (cover page not necessary)
- Artwork should be suited for 8.5x11 paper size
- All pages should be signed by artist.
Please note:
Entries must contain no graphic or adult content, obscene language, or use AI. Any entry that violates these rules will be disqualified and not displayed. There is a limit of 1 entry per contestant and 1 entry per writer/artist duo.
You can drop off your submission with an entry form at the Anderson County Library location during regular library hours between May 1st and July 31st.
Submissions can also be emailed to litmag@andersonlibrary.org. Please include a filled out and scanned entry form with your submission.
There will be 8 winners published. The selection of the winners by the Electric City Creative Makerspace is final. Winners will be announced August 29th. Prizes including a copy of the magazine can be picked up at the publication release event on September 18th from 5pm-6pm. Additional copies of the magazine will be available to purchase for $5.00.
