Audiobooks Count!

Audiobooks are absolutely a valid - and valuable - way to read.

There’s a lingering myth that reading only "counts" if you’re flipping through pages or scrolling through text. But in truth, audiobooks engage your brain in many of the same ways traditional reading does. You're still absorbing language, following stories, understanding ideas, and connecting emotionally with the material. That’s the heart of reading, no matter the format.

Audiobooks can also open up the world of literature to more people. They make books more accessible to folks with visual impairments, learning differences like dyslexia, or even just a packed schedule. They offer a way to enjoy stories while walking, commuting, or relaxing - bringing reading into more moments of everyday life.

And let’s not forget the magic of a well-narrated book. A great voice can bring characters to life, set the mood, and add richness to the storytelling in a way that feels deeply immersive.

In the end, what matters most is that you’re engaging with stories, ideas, and language - whether through your eyes or your ears. However you choose to read, you’re still reading. And that’s something to feel good about!

Tune in the the sound of reading by checking out an audiobook on Hoopla or Libby.
