Database Access

 

Requirements for accessing the Databases correctly are:

Internet Explorer version 5.5 and above, Firefox 1.0 and above, or Netscape version 6.2 and above.
         How to find out what version your browser is.
         How to upgrade your browser.

Your Browser must be enabled to accept cookies.
        How to enable cookies on your PC.
        How to enable cookies on your MAC.

If you have installed personal firewall software or are behind a firewall it must not block URL redirects. If you have personal firewall software and are having problems accessing the databases, try disabling the firewall and then accessing the site (see your firewall documentation for instructions to disable).

How to find out what version your browser is.

Click on 'Help' on the menu bar of your browser. Select the "About...." text. Full details about your browser as well as the version will be detailed

How to enable cookies on your PC.

If you are using Internet Explorer 6.0:

  1. Select tools option
  2. Select 'Internet Options'
  3. Click on Privacy tab
  4. Click on Advanced
  5. Check "Override automatic cookie handling."
  6. Select Accept for both First-party Cookies and Third-party Cookies.
  7. Check "Always allow session cookies."
  8. Click on OK.
  9. Click on OK.
  10. Close Browser Window and try again.

If you are using Internet Explorer 5.5:

  1. Select tools option
  2. Select 'Internet Options'
  3. Click on Security tab
  4. Click on Internet Zone
  5. Click on Custom Level (A New Window with Security Settings opens)
  6. Scroll down to Cookies
  7. Set "Allow cookies that are stores on your computer" and "Allow per session cookies (Not-stored)" to enable
  8. Click on OK
  9. When the question "Are you sure you want to change the security setting for this zone?" pops up, Click on Yes.
  10. Click on OK.
  11. Close Browser Window and try again.

If you are using Netscape Navigator:

  1. Select Edit option
  2. Preferences
  3. Advanced
  4. Accept all cookies
  5. Close Browser Window and try again.

If you are using Firefox:

  1. Open Firefox
  2. Click on TOOLS
  3. Click on OPTIONS
  4. Click on PRIVACY in the left menu
  5. Click on the plus sign next to COOKIES to expand the section
  6. Click on the check box aside of "Allow sites to set cookies"
  7. For "Keep Cookies", select elect UNTIL THEY EXPIRE
  8. Click OK
  9. Close Browser Window and try again.

If you are using AOL:

  1. On the AOL Settings menu, click Preferences.
  2. On the "My AOL Preferences" window, click Internet Properties (WOW).
  3. On the Internet Options window, click the Security tab, and then click Custom Level.
  4. In the Settings list, scroll down until you see the word Cookies.
  5. Click the button next to the word Enable, then click OK.
  6. You may have to quit and restart you AOL software for these settings to go into effect.

How to enable cookies on your MAC.

 If you are using Internet Explorer:

  1. Click on Edit | Preferences.
  2. In the Preferences pop-up window expand the "Web Browser" choice if it isn't already expanded.
  3. In the drop-down list choose "Web Content".
  4. In the bottom section called "Active Content" select the "Enable scripting" box.
  5. For Cookies, in the same Preferences pop-up window, expand the "Receiving File" choice if it isn't already expanded.
  6. In the drop-down list choose "Cookies".
  7. Look for the drop-down list toward the bottom right corner of the pop-up window. It should contain 4 choices: Never Ask, Ask for each site, Ask for each cookie and Never accept. Choose any except for Never accept. "Ask for each cookie" and "Ask for each site" will prompt you for action. You may refer to the description of each choice as seen below the drop-down menu for more details.
  8. Click OK.
  9. When enabling JavaScript or the acceptance of cookies in Internet Explorer, you must close and reopen your browser window(s) for the change(s) to take place, so please do so now.

If you are using Netscape:

  1. With the browser window active, click on Edit | Preferences.
  2. In the Preferences pop-up window select "Advance".
  3. For "Cookies", select either "Accept only cookies that get sent back to the originating server" or "Accept all cookies".
  4. You may have to close and reopen your browser window(s) for the change(s) to take place.
