Anderson County
Library's
Services for People with Disabilities
Services for Disabled Patrons
The library has a computer and a Optelec Clearview equipped to enable the seeing
impaired to read normal print at the main library. There is also a selection of
large print books and magazines. ADA compliant restrooms are available in all
facilities. If a patron wishes to use a wheelchair while at the library,
one is available at the Circulation Desk. There is a
handicapped-accessible elevator connecting the library’s main and second floors,
as well as automatic doors at the entrances.
The library participates in the South Carolina State Library for the Blind and
Physically Handicapped Program to provide talking books for the blind. This free
service is available to South Carolina residents who cannot hold a book or turn
pages, cannot see normal size print, have temporary disabilities or
physically-based learning disabilities. The service offers recorded books,
Braille books, large print books, popular magazines (recorded and Braille), and
descriptive videos. Patrons may sign up to receive the service at the main
library or any branch library. You may also call 1-800-922-7818, Monday
through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., or access the program’s website by
