Anderson County
Library's
Services for People with Disabilities
Services for Disabled Patrons
The library has a computer and a Optelec Clearview equipped to enable the seeing
impaired to read normal print at the main library. There is also a selection of
large print books and
magazines. ADA compliant restrooms are available in all
facilities. If a patron wishes to use a wheelchair while at the Main Library,
one is available at the Main Library Circulation Desk. The Main library
has a
handicapped-accessible elevator connecting the library’s main and second floors,
as well as automatic doors at the entrances.
The library partners with the South Carolina State Library Talking Book
Services. This free service is available to South Carolina residents who are
blind, visually impaired, suffer from medically certifiable reading disorders or
cannot hold or read a normal print book due to other physical limitations. The
service offers recorded books, large print books, magazines (recorded and
Braille) and descriptive videos. Patrons may sign up to receive the service at
the main library or any branch library. You may also call 1-800-922-7818, Monday
through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., or access the program’s website at
