Anderson County Library is a tax-supported, county-wide public
library system governed by a board of trustees appointed by the Anderson County
Council. If you live, work, or own property in
Anderson County, you may sign up for a free library card at any branch or the
Main Library. Picture ID is required, along with proof of your current
address. Children of all ages may have
a card of their own; children 14 or older register as adults. A parent
must sign for a childs card, presenting proper identification. Students
in local schools who are not county residents may receive free cards for the
school term. Residents of Abbeville, Anderson, Greenville, Oconee, and
Pickens Counties enjoy borrowing reciprocity with no annual fee.
Other out-of-county residents must pay an annual fee of $25 for a
card. By accepting your library card, you agree to be responsible for the
materials you borrow. Occasionally items are lost. Anderson County Library will
charge you for the original cost of the material.
New fiction
books and reserve books are loaned for two weeks, older fiction books and
nonfiction books for three weeks, with one renewal. Specially marked
reference books are loaned for three days. No other reference books are
loaned.
Videotapes
and DVDs are loaned for one week with one renewal. Audiotapes and music
CDs are loaned for three weeks.
There is
never a charge for borrowing items from any Anderson County Library, but
there are late fees for overdue materials.
Materials may
be returned to any branch regardless of where they were borrowed.
If you cannot
find the material for which you are searching, please consult one of the
librarians on duty. It is possible to transfer material to you from
another branch, to reserve items for you if they are currently
circulating, or to borrow materials from other libraries across the United
States.
