Anderson County Library has gone Purple!

Join us in August for a celebration of Alice Walker’s award-winning novel The Color Purple.

The Broadway musical adaptation comes to Clemson’s Brooks Center September 7.

We’ll give away 2 tickets at each library event.

A limited number of free copies of The Color Purple will be available to library patrons starting Monday, August 2. Ask at any service desk about checking out a library copy.

Clemson University faculty members will discuss various themes in the book, film and musical.  

August 16, 5 p.m, Iva Library
Discuss the book with Glenn Hare,
marketing director of Clemson's Brooks Center for the Performing Arts. 

August 20, 7 p.m., Main Library
Movie Screening
The 1985 movie received several Academy Award nominations, and Whoopi Goldberg won Best Actress for her portrayal of Celie.

August 25, Noon to 1 p.m., Main Library
Discuss the book with Glenn Hare. 

August 26, 6 p.m, Pendleton Library
Discuss the book with Glenn Hare.
