During January and February 2012 the Anderson International Festival will present Joie de Vivre: A French Cultural Celebration.

The Anderson International Festival is a partnership of more than ten public and private community organizations in Anderson County, South Carolina. These organizations will work together to produce a series of exhibits, performances, films and lectures during January-February 2012 to bring the rich culture of France to people of all ages throughout our region.

  The Anderson School of Theology for Laypersons will present a viewing and discussion of the film “Chocolat.” This light-hearted fable is set in a small town in rural France during the season of Lent. The town is awakened when a single mother moves to the town and opens a chocolate shop across the street from the church. When Vienne tempts parishioners and townspeople with her miraculous chocolate creations, the devout mayor and obstinate Christians join forces against her. The story is multi-layered and speaks to the universal human condition. And yes, we will enjoy tasting a variety of chocolates while we view the film.
