  • Each class meets for one session. For example, if you sign up for one Internet Basics class, you don't have to sign up for the other Internet Basics sessions. 

  • Some classes require the ability to use a computer mouse. If you cannot use a mouse, call Cheryl Williams at (864) 260-4500 ext. 118 to make arrangements to develop mouse skills before you come to class.

  • Classes are held in the Training Room at The Main Library.

Computer Basics - (Prerequisite – Completion of Mousing Basics )
One Session / 2 Hour class – This class offers the beginner an opportunity to unravel the mystery of the computer as you learn about the parts of the computer, the difference between hardware and software, what an operating system is and how to store files. Get practice using the keyboard and the mouse and accessing computer software programs.

eBay – (Prerequisite – Basic Mouse Skills, Basic Keyboarding Skills, and MS Word I)
One Session / 2 Hour class – eBay is the place to buy what you want and sell what you have. Learn how to shop online at the world's largest garage sale, online shopping center, car dealer and auction site with 147 million registered users in 30 countries as of March 2005. You can find everything from encyclopedias to olives to snow boots to stereos to airplanes for sale on eBay.

E-Mail Essentials – (Prerequisite – Completion of Mousing Basics, Computer Basics and Internet Basics)
One Session / 2 Hour class – Learn how to send, receive, reply and forward e-mail messages with a Yahoo training account. Learn how to set up your own free e-mail account. Practice opening and saving attachments, organizing messages placing them in folders and creating a contact list. In addition, learn basic E-mail etiquette.
*This class is limited to 12 students. Schedule

Internet Basics – (Prerequisite – Completion of Mousing Basics and Computer Basics)
One Session / 2 Hour class – Dive into the World Wide Web using Internet Explorer! Learn how to use search engines to perform simple searches and find websites. Navigate through web pages and evaluate web sites. Learn basic online etiquette and Internet Safety.

Intro to Excel – (Prerequisite – Basic Mouse Skills, Basic Keyboarding Skills, and MS Word I)
One Session / 2 Hour class – Get an introduction to the basics of using Excel 2007, a spreadsheet program for data management. This class is designed to show you how to get started using the basic tools of the Excel spreadsheet. Explore the parts of a workbook and learn how to enter edit and duplicate data. Practice inserting formulas, formatting text, resizing columns, creating charts, renaming and deleting sheets and printing.
*This class is limited to 10 students. Schedule

Intro to Publisher – (Prerequisite – Basic Mouse Skills, Basic Keyboarding Skills, and MS Word I)
One Session / 2 Hour class – Publisher can be used to create personalized flyers, cards, newsletters and more. Examine publication options and learn how to customize a template by adding text and shapes, changing colors, inserting images and formatting text.
*This class is limited to 8 students. Schedule

Keyboarding Basics – (Prerequisite – Completion of Mousing Basics )
One Session / 2 Hour class – The keyboard is one of your computer’s communication tools. Practice typing, and editing text, numbers, and symbols with the keyboard.
*This class is limited to 12 students. Schedule

MS Word I – (Prerequisite– basic mouse skills)
One Session / 2 Hour class – Learn about the basic tools of Word, practice skills such as selecting and modifying text, cutting and pasting and saving a document. For further Microsoft Word instruction, follow-up with MS Word II and MS Word III.
*This class is limited to 12 students. Schedule

MS Word II – (Prerequisite – MS Word I)
One Session / 2 Hour class – Review the basic tools of Microsoft Word, learn more about how to modify text, create numbered and bulleted lists, create tab stops, and insert clip art. For further Microsoft Word instruction, follow-up with MSWord III.
*Completion of Word I or permission of the instructor is required to take this class.
*This class is limited to 10 students. Schedule

MS Word III – (Prerequisite – MS Word I and II)
One Session / 2 Hour class – Learn the more advanced skills of Microsoft Word by learning to create and format basic tables and charts; insert text and graphics from the Internet into a Word document; create an address list and generate personalized letters, envelopes and labels with Microsoft Word’s Mail Merge; improve your page layout skills by learning how to change margin settings, editing headers and footers, and formatting text into columns.
*Completion of Word I and II or permission of the instructor is required to take this class.

Mousing Basics – (Prerequisite – No previous computer experience needed.)
One Session / 2 Hour class – The mouse is one of your computer’s communication tools. Learn how to click, double-click, click and drag and scroll with the mouse.
*This class is limited to 12 students. Schedule
